Wild Rumpus began five (almost six!) years ago in a Thirroul lounge room. Since then, we have done so much!
We've had over 10,000 community members attend fun, short, sweet skill-share classes to learn something from a fellow community member. Everything from beach fishing to power tools to watercolour to bread-making. This is such an incredible picture of just how many ace and wonderful skills are lurking beneath the surface - you just have to look!
Over 600 local community members have stepped into a 'teaching' role by running a skill-share class. Some of these clever people have gone on to found their own business, and run workshops all over the place.
Wild Rumpus also ran a really fun and popular Makers' Market for a while there. We showcased local makers, crafters, artists in a quarterly then twice yearly affair.
Now? We also run a corporate creative experiences service, providing busy teams and workplaces with quality creative sessions, that help boost morale, build team connection and make people happy! We are working on new programs that connect creative practices with mental health treatment, we run a yearly creative escape in the rainforest, plus a bunch of wild, weird events around the place.
While we will always stay wild, for now, we are, just simply, Rumpus.
“To end loneliness, you need other people—plus something else. You also need to feel you are sharing something with the other person, or the group, that is meaningful to both of you. You have to be in it together—and “it” can be anything that you both think has meaning and value.” - Johann Hari, Lost Connections
“The food, the craft, the people, the vibe – it was pure magic.”
